When children are exposed to severe stress which exceeds their individual coping tolerances, mental and physical symptoms often appear. Furthermore, compared with adults, children’s minds and bodies are more deeply connected. So, if children become mentally exhausted, their bodies also become tired, which can cause to further mental fatigue, easily leading to a vicious cycle of fatigue. Our Pediatric Psychosomatic Medicine Department aims to aid both the mental and physical health of child patients through consultation with children and their families about how to deal with such symptoms and how to cut off these vicious cycles. We primarily handle psychosomatic diseases such as orthostatic dysregulation, irritable bowel syndrome, eating disorders and nocturnal enuresis, and also deal with cases of children refusing to go to school as well. We also provide consultations for children with developmental or emotional disorders. Depending on the nature of each case, we can refer patients to other medical institutions, so please feel free to contact us as an initial point of general consultation.
Consultations and treatment at the Pediatric Psychosomatic Medicine are by appointment only. Please contact us in advance by telephone to arrange an appointment.
