Diabetes Center

About us

Nearly a year has passed since we founded our Diabetes Center in July last year. Now that it’s the beginning of the fiscal year, let me fill you in on the current situation.

We initially began providing medical services with 12 staff members. Staff members have transferred in and out over the year, our roster has now reached 15 people.

Regarding our personnel qualifications, we started the center with two CDEJ (Certified Diabetes Educator of Japan), but soon were reduced to one CDEJ. However, one of our pharmacists, Ms. Tomoko Koyama, has since acquired CDEJ qualification for CDEJ, and three other staff members have also obtained qualifications for Certified Diabetes Educator of Hiroshima (LCDE, Local Certified Diabetes Educator) this spring. Our new LCDEs are nurse Mr. Shigehisa Toda, pharmacist Ms. Yasuko Mori, and dental hygienist Ms. Mayuka Taga.

Improvement of skills is essential in order to give proper medical care guidance to our patients. We also actively encourage our staff to acquire qualifications. Last year, some of our staff held presentations at seminars or academic conferences, including a seminar for endocrine metabolic disease (Mr. Toda and Ms. Takizawa), The Japanese Society of National Medical Services (Mr.Motomura and Dr.Hatanaka), and The Society of National Hospital Nutrition Research (Ms. Takizawa). Through making presentations at academic meetings and participating workshops or seminars, we strive to continue studying and further improve our medical skills.

Last year, we provided educational hospitalization programs for 41 patients, and performed glycemic control for 294 patients who were hospitalized in other departments last year. We handle increasing introductions from nearby medical institutions, and are accepting increasing numbers of patients for educational hospitalization since the beginning of this year, so we would estimate that the patient numbers for this fiscal year will exceed the previous fiscal year.

In addition, we would like to continue educational activities for citizens, such our World Diabetes Day event which has been held since last year, and maternity courses for gestational diabetes patients.

In our regular outpatient clinical practice, we constantly make the utmost effort to provide advanced medical treatments. Accordingly, one of our goals is to employ Flash Glucose Monitoring System within this year.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support of our Diabetes Center.
