Our hospital was designated as an AIDS treatment core hospital by Hiroshima prefecture in July 1994. As an AIDS treatment core hospital, we are required to provide comprehensive and advanced care for various HIV infection and AIDS cases. Because of the rapid rate of progress in treatment and medical care for HIV and AIDS, another important role of our hospital is collecting this information and providing information and education to other hospitals throughout the region. We invite HIV/AIDS expert lecturers from Hiroshima University Hospital, which is the Chugoku and Shikoku Block AIDS treatment core hospital, and also from the Kawasaki Medical University Hospital, which is a core hospital for AIDS treatment in Okayama. Also, our HIV treatment team actively participates in HIV/AIDS related conferences and workshops to keep on top of the latest information. Furthermore, we strive to contribute to creating and maintaining a social environment where people worried about HIV infection can easily receive antibody testing.
