Neonatology

About us

Fukuyama Medical Care Center is designated as a regional perinatal maternal and child medical center, and plays a central role in perinatal period care for the whole of eastern Hiroshima Prefecture. In the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), newborns requiring intensive care, such as preterm birth / low birth weight infants and newborns with disease, are hospitalized. After completing intensive care at NICU, the newborn will transfer to the GCU (Growing Care Unit) in preparation for discharge from hospital. We refer to these 24 beds, consisting of 12 beds in NICU and 12 beds in GCU, as the Newborn Center. We strive to both treat disease, and also tenderly care for babies and their families in a comfortable environment. From the moment when a newborn baby is admitted to the NICU, we provide treatment with the infant’s happy and healthy return to his or her family in mind.
