Proctology

About us

In addition to major anal diseases (hemorrhoids, anal fissure, and anal fistula), various other diseases also occur in and around the anus. Also, even for the same disease, it is necessary to select a treatment method individually in consideration of factors such as underlying diseases, degree of symptoms, social background, and duration of hospital stay. Fukuyama Medical Center has been approved as a medical specialist training institution by the Japanese Society of Coloproctology. Under the leadership of head surgeon Dr. Iwakawa, we provide specialized, academic, and high-quality treatment to patients with conditions such as general or special anal disease, intractable diseases, or malignant diseases.

Our department is characterized by the following special features:

  1. Medical treatments are always provided by specialists or medical advisors for digestive organs, including the large intestine.
  2. Emergency treatment is available, even late at night or on holidays.
  3. Multidisciplinary medical specialists are available, in fields such as anesthesiology, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, and circulatory medicine.
  4. Our well-established care environment includes private hospital rooms.

For information regarding specific treatment methods, please refer to the "Oshiri-no Byouki” (“Diseases of the Buttocks”) articles published in the Fukuyama Medical Center Newsletter.

In addition, in collaboration with specialist nurses, we offer a stoma outpatient clinic for patients who have had a stoma installed via colostomy surgery.
