About us

Every year, 600 to 650 babies are delivered at Fukuyama Medical Care Center. Our hospital is home to the perinatal center for the whole of eastern Hiroshima, and thus patients with abnormal pregnancy or abnormal deliveries will be referred or transferred from other hospitals throughout the region. About 50% of the patients will deliver by Caesarean section. There are 40 to 50 cases of delivery by pregnant mothers over 40 years old, and 20 to 30 pairs of twin pregnancies per year. Also we have had 166 low birth weight babies of less than 2500 grams.

After giving birth, the mother and the baby stay together in a private room to avoid maternal and child separation as much as possible. Pregnancy and delivery often have unexpected difficulties. Expecting mothers at Fukuyama Medical Care Center can rest assured that their delivery will take place in a hospital fully staffed with specialists such as obstetricians and gynecologists, pediatricians, and anesthesiologists, who are ready to assist with an unexpected complication. This peace of mind and security contributes to the recent gradual increase of trouble-free deliveries.
